Public Design Workshops Held in February 2006

Over 120 people attended three public design workshops in Williston and Essex Junction on February 7-9, 2006.  The workshops were opportunities for people to talk directly with the designers of the eight alternatives on the short list for the Circ-Williston EIS. Designs-in-progress were presented in plans and cross-sections.  These drawings showed in some detail how the various alternatives would fit with their surroundings.

Separate workshops were held on the Williston portion of Route 2A, Park Street and Five Corners in Essex Junction, and the Circ A/B corridor.  There was an active dialogue in each workshop about questions such as where multi-use paths and sidewalks should be located, how pedestrian crossings should be provided, whether a connection with Williston Road would be desirable in the Circ A/B alternatives, and how the various alternatives would relate to abutting property in Essex Junction and Williston.

The consultant team will use the public input to refine and evaluate the short list alternatives for the forthcoming Draft EIS.
